Weber E310 Natural Gas
by Mary Todd
(Rockaway Point, NY)
We cooked three steaks for about 10-12 minutes. We preheated like we always do, then cooked the steaks. Again, like we always do, we turned down the temperature to low to burn off some of the residue and then put the cover down. After finishing the steaks (and this didn't take long), my husband went back to the deck to turn off the grill. It was then that he noticed that the second and third knobs were melted like roasted marshmallows.
My husband contacted Weber and did not get satisifaction ffom a very rude customer service rep. I called a couple of days later and was fortunate to get connected with the opposite...a very customer-orientd rep. She listened patiently, asked me some questions and then made a decision to send me a replacement manifold, hoses and knobs.
We were both told that the hoses need to be cleaned yearly since sometimes they get clogged with spiders and other debris. I had just cleaned the barbecue before Memorial Day 2010. When my husband went to replace the hoses, he found no spiders or debris in them. He was hoping to find something so we would know what caused the knobs to melt.
I am still waiting to hear from Weber about the melted knobs (first agent never asked if anyone got burnt or if there was any damage....we have a wooden deck so it was good that my husband went out as soon as he did). We do not leave on the grill for long periods of time so we are really confused as to why/how this "meltdown" occurred. Has anyone else had this [potentially dangerous) problem with the Weber Spirit E310 natural gas grill?
