When I can keep it lit, it works like a dream. The slightest breeze blows out the flame. When I pre-heat the grill and go in for the food and come out and find it cold I end up cooking indoors. Very well built, but a hassle to clean. No drip tray so all the grease from the V-channel grill rack drains to the bottom. Then you must remove the burner to clean the bottom. Oh, you cannot cook with the lid down.

How hot is hot??

People talk about searing hot temps but I can find no mention of what the actual temps are. I'm looking at the small Solaire Anywhere model. Thanks

poster is confused by what they bought

This poster says they can't keep the flame lit. I live in Michigan and we have higher than usual winds and I live on a fairly windy lakefront property. I have never had a problem with wind blowing my flame out other than a very rare occasion and with winds that are stronger than usual. They mention that you cannot cook with the lid down. That is partially true. You cannot have the lid down on any setting other than its lowest, which is clearly marked on the grill itself. Simple reason for this is that it is too hot to have down, which is one of the major benefits of this type grill. Lid goes down when you want to finish cooking meat at lowest temperature setting. I have two Solaire's and have had them for 9 years. I would be lost without mine but, if your not into cooking with searing hot temperatures, buy a slow cooking gas grill. If you want the best tasting seared meats, buy an infrared grill......
