Costco has really good homemade pizza's, so I thought I'd try a Margherita Pizza on the Bubba Keg Grill (now the Big Steel Keg Grill). I was lazy, and it looked really good. I've also been meaning to try something like this every since I got it.

Fortunately, I picked up a platesetter for a large Big Green Egg, so I have not problems with indirect heat. I understand some of the complaints, but you have to buy one for your Egg, and all of the BGE accessories fit perfectly in a Bubba Keg Grill (now the Big Steel Keg Grill).  So, no excuses, just get one.

Here's a look at this pizza. Pretty appetizing at first glance. Definitely something my wife would go for. I'm more of a meatsa meatsa guy myelf.

Got the Bubba Keg Grill (now the Big Steel Keg Grill) fired up to 400 F. Didn't have too much trouble stabilizing it now that I'm getting the hang of things. While the platesetter will stand on the edges of the fire bowl, I decided to put the cooking grate on the lowest position and set the platesetter on top of it. No reason other than I didn't want to look at the cooking grate.

You can see this thing has been getting some use in its short life. The next thing to do was get the pizza on the Bubba Keg.

At this point, I shut the lid. It slowly came back up to 400 F. I kept it in a little bit longer than 15 minutes since the temperature had dropped. It didn't help that I kept the lid open to take pictures.

I did make a mistake that I won't repeat. I didn't heat the pizza stone up. Since the pizza was slightly bigger (monster pizza) the edges got crispy but not so much in the middle. Totally my fault. I'm a newbie. But it's still came out looking like this.

I got it in the kitchen sliced it up. It smelled so good my hands were shaking.

I think you can see that the bottom didn't get as crusty as I would have liked. But I couldn't keep it in there any longer or the outside crust would have been burned. I won't make that mistake again.

My pizza on the Bubba Keg Grill (now the Big Steel Keg Grill) tasted great. It's been a long time since I've had a pizza from a wood fired oven and there is a definitely a tasty edge here. I'll be cooking all of my pizzas this way, including the frozen ones!

The Bubba Keg Convection Grill (now the Big Steel Keg Grill) is now available at Home Depot. You can purchase it online and pick it up at the store.
