broken rivet for searing unit
expanded view of searing area
spiders love these tubes it seems
When my Father's Day present arrived in its handsome, sturdy packaging (6/14/2008), I was very pleased, but the first rivet that was on the lower crate was an omen of sorts. The rivet belonged to the searing burner, but I thought it would function okay anyway. (The warranty team authorized a welder to fix it). I utilized the regular burning areas successfully for a little while, but was alarmed at the casual potential for fires because of spiderwebs in the burner tubes. I've had two fires this way that were near the control knobs, and fires don't generally announce they're going to happen. ENOUGH FOR ME! This baby is scrap metal now. Perhaps if there was an easy way to clean out these webs, without disassemblying the front panel every time, I might have tolerated the danger potential. However, I believe it's unprofessional for such a dangerous possibility to be commonplace in this type of consumer product designed to bring joy and productivity.
