I recently had the chance to have an interview with Curt McAdams, the person behind Bucky McOinkums BBQ (aka Bucky's Barbecue & Bread). If you're looking for a great food related blog to follow, you won't find much better.

One of the interesting things about Curt is that he doesn't simply focus on barbecue tips all the time. You'll see him make mouth watering leftover dishes (he calls them Bonus Round) as well. The pictures he takes are at a professional level, and he even teaches the art of taking food photos on his site (look for Food Photo 101).  You'll see what I mean when you check out his blog at blog.buckymcoinkumsbbq.com.

I'm not going to waste anymore time yappin'. Here we go!

Gas Grill Review: First, do you make your living cooking? If not, you sure know how to make a good presentation. Some of the pictures of leftovers got me salivating. I also noted that you have a section on how to take photos of food. Where did this passion come from?

Gas Grill Review: Based on the fact that you compete in KCBS competitions, I'm guessing you're into Kansas City style BBQ. Can you tell us a little bit about that style for those who don't know?

Gas Grill Review: From your blog, it's pretty obvious that your talents and interests go well beyond barbecue. I noticed you have an interest in artisanal breads. Can you tell us what that is, and what captured your interest in it?

Gas Grill Review: I noticed you have a Big Green Egg. I'm very close to getting one myself (or a primo). First, why are they so much better than more traditional smokers? Second, is the grilling capability good enough that we can get rid of our gassers?

Gas Grill Review: Do you use any special gadgetry, like the BBQGuru, to help you maintain constant cooking temperatures? Would you recommend anything like that to newbies or do gadgets get too complicated?

Gas Grill Review: You had a great post on "basic barbecue." Can you tell us about some of your more imaginative, or exotic, attempts at barbecue?

Gas Grill Review: When does the 2009 competition season start for you and where will we see you once it starts?

What a great interview. It's always fun to read other perspectives on barbecue. It's how we learn.

Don't forget to check out Curt's excellent blog at http://blog.buckymcoinkumsbbq.com and subscribe to his RSS feed to get his updates as they happen.
