Gas grill recipes aren't quite the same as traditional BBQ recipes. Typically, when you're using a gas grill, your cooking something, like a steak, at high temperatures for a short period of time. That's quite the opposite of the low temperature long cook times of barbecue. Totally different approaches, and totally different outcomes.

While this site is dedicated to product reviews, it makes sense to provide some related information regarding the user of gas grills, and charcoal grills. There are some really great sites dedicated to recipe topics for grilling a smoking so we'll refer to them here, but also include some topics that we feel are of great value.

  • How long do you grill chicken on a gas grill? - The problem with chicken, especially the white meat, is that it can easily get dry. And you need to be aware that it takes longer to cook dark meat so it may be on longer that a chicken breast.

    One technique preached a lot is to put your gas grill on high heat and sear each side of the chicken for a couple of minutes with the hood open. Then turn the temperature down to low and slow cook it with the hood down for another 12-14 minutes or so. This should keep it from getting dry and tough.

    My favorite thing to do these days is to purchase a whole chick and cook it spatchcock style. This is a great way to get moistness and flavor so easily achieved by slow cooking.   • What Are the Grill Times For Steak? is a very common question I hear so let me try to answer it. The times are going to vary depending on what temperature you're cooking at and what level of doneness you prefer; rare, medium-rare, medium or well-done. It's also going to depend on the thickness of the cut.

  • How to cook chicken on a gas grill - In my opinion the best method is spatchcock chicken. This is the easiest way to have the entire chicken come out most and flavorful, outside of slow cooking.

    If you're grilling chicken parts, the worst thing you can do is cook on super high heat. That's just going to dry the chicken out. Lot's of voodoo out there about this and that, but if you do a quick sear at high temps on each side and then turn your burners down to low and shut the lid for another 6-7 minutes per side, you should get a juicy result.
