Char-Broil Red Infrared 3 burner Grill

by Randy
(Ball Ground, GA, USA)

I bought a Char-Broil Red gas grill two years ago. While we kept it constantly covered, the infrared troughs rusted clear through. Also, the Char-Broil cover made for the grill lasted even less time. The cover faded quickly and completed came apart at all of the seams. These covers are terrible and expensive, and must be replaced up to twice per year.

While the infrared grilling method worked well, this grill construction was poor. While the grill looks nice on the showroom, I would suggest spending another $150 and buying a Weber, which we just did. Once the troughs rust through, the flames shoot through the bottom of the grill, rendering the grill useless.

RED infrared is just fine, if you take care of it.

Randy - I have the same grill, purchased from Home Depot 2 summers past. I live in Seattle where it rains quite a bit and I don't use a cover. While there is some to-be-expected weather damage to the grill surface, I've not had the emitter troughs rust thru...uh, perhaps because I CLEAN THEM once in a while. Sheese.
