Charbroil Quantum Infrared 463246910

by Cheryl
(Mt. Washington, KY)

Char-Broil Model 463246910 — It's as good as garbage, and Garbage isn't good at all!!! I've used this grill for a total of about 4 months. Since it is infrared, I thought I should give it some time to get used to it. Well, after ruining almost every kind of meat possible, I've come to the conclusion that Infrared isn't what Char-broil makes it out to be. I finally contacted customer service & received no satisfaction. They wanted me to read the directions. Honestly, do they think I'm dumb? Would I honestly continue to cook on a grill & keep ruining my food? I've tried every suggestion given in the literature & I still have ruined food. I caution everyone to keep away from Infrared grills, especially if you want to have good food! If you decide to give it a try, I will caution you to definitely not buy Char-Broil, their customer service receives a failing grade!

I thought infrared was supposed to sear the meet. It will not even mark it. Is says 600 degrease but it cooks like 200. I would not suggest this grill to anyone and would defiantly not purchase another infrared.

you got to learn how to use it...

the only issue I have is maybe they could use better stainless steel....especially for the grates...otherwise ...it has cooked really great for me...steaks, chicken, pork, burgers, dogs, veggies...all turn out nice...the meats are seared on the outside and moist inside... you have to realize you have much shorter cooking times with this grill... use this process with most meats: high temp (700) - sear both sides for about 2-3 minutes...then turn to low (250-300) and slow cook another 4-5 mins - maybe ten....then its done... don't cut the meat open or pock it with a fork...all the juices will run out... just use your finger...if its semi soft its medium and ready to eat...

Only cuts good for certain foods.
by: John

I have owned the 2 burner infrared grill for over a year and at first I hated it. Now I just dislike it. For ribs and chicken it is great, no flare ups and cookes evenly. For burgers and steaks (unless the steak is at least 2 in thick) it is terrible, the food comes out more like boiled than grilled. For vegies it is good too. If I had it my way I would buy one large grill 1/2 infrared and 1/2 regular. My next grill will not be infrared.

InfraRed does work
by: DvW

I have had a 3 burner Red for 2 years (bought at HD). It has been great for me. I've done slow cooking of ribs and a few Bacon Explosions, tons of eggplant and other veggies and lots of burgers, steaks etc. I don't get the gas smell/taste of other gas grills (including Webber, FireMagic, Ducane and others) and I don't have the charcoal mess that i would have had from the normal charcoal grill. My grill fell down the stairs (ok, 2 steps) during the last tornado and it still works fine.
Maybe you need to cook at a lower temp on the dial than what you are used to? Or less time? I use half the fuel i used to, and it definitely takes less time than normal.
