Should You Consider a Built In Grill for Your Backyard Kitchen?
If you can't live without barbecue foods, have you ever considered installing a built in grill in your backyard kitchen? Many fans of grilling choose these types of grills since it seems to satisfy their year-round craving for veggies, chicken, beef-and just about anything else that's barbecue-worthy! But before you decide if this option is right for you, make sure to consider some key factors:

  1. It's a permanent solution for grilling-mania

Some grilling enthusiasts have been known to barbecue in the middle of winter-even when they live much farther north than Florida or Texas! If you want to enjoy outdoor barbecuing from January to December, then it makes sense to use a more permanent fixture.

A built in grill can fit perfectly into your outdoor kitchen, just as a stovetop and oven fit snugly into your indoor kitchen. Forget about dragging out your stand-up grill, setting it up, and then folding it back up when you're done. With a permanent outdoor griller, simply fire it up and then start grilling whatever tasty meats or veggies you're craving. It's that easy!

  2. Weber Summit Built In Grill Permanence has a higher price tag

While stand-up grills cost hundreds, expect to spend thousands for permanent grills. Quality grills range from roughly $4,000 to $10,000. And that's just for the grill itself! There's also the materials needed for installation. And if you hire someone else to do the installation, you can expect to tack on more expenses.

The Weber Summit S-460 Built-In Natural Gas Grill with Rotisserie and Smoker pictured to the right is actually a pretty reasonable price for a "built in".

So is the cost worthwhile? That's a decision that you'll have to make. If you can't live without year-round outdoor grilling then it's definitely an option that you should consider. Also, living in temperate areas and hosting a lot of outdoor parties are other viable reasons for installing a built in grill in your backyard kitchen.

On the other hand, if wintertime is particularly brutal in the region where you live, or you rarely do any barbecuing-then basic stand-up grills would be a more practical option for you.
  3. The grills are easy to clean

Generally they're easier to clean than stand-up grillers. That will save you a ton of time and effort-and provide more time for grilling and eating grilled foods. In today's hectic world, the initial cost for convenience is usually worthwhile!
  4. The grills must be weatherproof

By merely being outdoors, grills are exposed somewhat to the elements. But this becomes an even bigger issue when you install a built in grill in your backyard kitchen. Whether you build your own griller or buy a manufactured one, make sure that the materials are rugged. This will prevent rusting and other problems that can result from units made of inferior materials. Here's a practical test: if a griller can survive those instances when it's raining cats and dogs-then it's one you should consider.

If you're a big fan of outdoor grilling, then a permanent grill for your backyard kitchen could be the perfect solution. First consider your needs, and then determine if such grills are as perfect for you as the meats and veggies they cook!
