Having a comfortable air mattress for camping is important.
For most of us it's not very fun going from a nice soft mattress to hard ground
with roots and stones sticking in your back. Some people apparently thrive on
pain and lack of sleep. Not me.
Then there are the folks who like to BBQ. If
you've read anything on this site you that I'm not talking about slapping some
ribs on a super hot grill, and lathering them with barbecue sauce. More likely,
I'm talking about smoking a pork butt for 19 hours, or a competition barbecuer
who is sleeping near his or her Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker to make sure
nothing goes wrong during the night.
It's tough enough only half sleeping, but if you've got to do it, do it with
as much comfort as possible. I've done some all nighters myself here at home and
started researching
air mattress reviews around the Internet to find something that I can
purchase that doesn't cost too much and that I can use out on my screen in deck
where my Bubba Keg smoker does it's magic. So what did I find?
An Air Mattress Requiring An External Pump
The Coleman 4-in-1 Quickbed
is an inexpensive solution at around $30. It can handle one or two people
comfortably. It's a uniquely designed, two-piece bed that can be used in
multiple configurations: the two Twin-size beds used separately (for two
separate sleepers), zipped together for a King-size bed, or stacked on top of
one another (and securely snapped together) for a tall Twin bed. It features
Coleman's ComfortSmart coil system that conforms to your body's sleep position
and a soft suede top. It also features Coleman's exclusive Wrap 'N' Roll storage
system--just roll into attached bag, tie and transport.
This bed is protected by Coleman's Airtight System, featuring a double lock
valve (which opens extra wide for quick and easy inflation and deflation) and an
exclusive PVC formula that 15 percent more puncture resistant and can stand up
to 600 pounds of pressure.
The downside is that it requires a separate pump or a killer pair of lungs
and flexible lips! The Coleman 120V Electric Quick Pump
is the one most people purchase with this mattress and since it get's
4 out of 5
stars from the consumer reviews I found, that's good enough for me. But be sure
to let me know down below if you don't agree so we balance this review out
accordingly!
An Air Mattress With A Built In Pump
The Intex Raised Downy Queen Airbed with Built-in Electric Pump
gets the thumbs up from consumers. While it's not as dynamic as the Coleman
since it only has a traditional configuration, it gets good marks for comfort,
durability and design. And the fact that it has a built in pump makes up for
anything else. One less thing to lug around or store if you ask me.
This was just a quick review of air mattresses for you campers, but mostly
for you gung ho outta your minds BBQ'ers. OK, I'm guilty as charged! And don't
